Irrigation by the Look and Feel Method, Activity

Instructor: Using the soil samples from Lesson 1 of this module, the instructor should divide each sample into three sub-samples. Each of the sub-samples should be wetted to a different level, preferably one undersaturated, one oversaturated and one at field capacity. This will enable participants to get a feel for the look and feel method of determining when to irrigate.
Using the Feel Method, identify if the samples need to be irrigated and if so, soon or now? Circle your answers below. Remember that the soil texture plays a role in the look and feel method, so you will have to identify the soil texture before you can determine the irrigation needs.
