Beef/Cattle Extension Program
Premise Identification
Premises identification is the first key element of
traceback.
- Will identify the locations where livestock animals
reside or pass through.
- A premises will be contacted if an animal disease
case is identified, in order to contain and eradicate
the disease.
- Premises identification number will be a seven (7)
digit alphanumeric number.
- The data associated with the premises number will
be maintained in a state registration system.
Data collected and stored includes:
- Premises number
- Name of entity and contact person
- Physical Address
- Phone
- Operation type
- Domestic species at the location
- Dates premise record activated
and retired
- Historical data (state system
only)
Montana’s Process
Premises registration is now available through the
Montana Department of Livestock (see form above). Contact
your local county extension agent for help completing
and submitting the form.
Anticipated Timeframe
Statewide implementation of the premise identification
system is anticipated for summer 2005.
