1 = High - Thrives on sites which are partially shaded.
2 = Medium - Does best on sites exposed to full sunlight. Species is not especially sensitive to shading.
3 = Low - Species seriously hampered by shading either because their growth habits provide more opportunity to be shaded, or they can tolerate less shading. This may be critical in the year of establishment.
