Sandy has served as the Extension Equine Specialist
in the Department of Animal and Range Sciences at Montana
State University since July 2000. In addition to his
Equine Specialist position, he also serves as an Associate
Professor of Animal Science in the Department. His responsibilities
include Director of Equine Science Program, teaching
equine science courses along with various riding and
training courses. Sandy also serves as the manager of
the Department of Animal and Range Sciences’ horse
herd and equine facilities.
The Extension Equine program addresses issues facing
equine owners in Montana. The goal of the program is
to provide scientific, objective, and research based
information that promotes an understanding of equine
management.
Sandy’s research work has emphasized equine behavior
and training, nutrition, forage utilization, and horse
management.
